Viewing Bats Under the Congress Bridge

Much hasn’t happened on our trip here to Austin. So far it’s been more about healing, rejuvenation, relaxation, and just a time to regain strength to jump back into the rat race except today I pushed my husband out the door to see some bats. We walked around downtown prior to bat viewing and then claimed our spots under the bridge around 7pm. The suspense was building because it’s not like they come out at a precise time.

They came and went just like that.

Apparently the bridge holds the most bats in an urban area here in North America estimated to be at 1.5 million. So for tourists looking to do free activities, this is one of them except if you come around winter time. By then they may have made their way to Mexico.
